Community Engagement
For more than a century, BOMA/Chicago has proudly served as the voice of Chicago’s office building industry. Beyond our efforts to support the region’s economy, we are committed to making a meaningful difference in our community. Through strategic partnerships with exceptional organizations, we strive to help those in need and foster positive change. Whether hosting blood drives or protecting local wildlife, BOMA/Chicago is dedicated to creating a lasting, positive impact across our city.Â
Holiday Food Drive
Each year, BOMA/Chicago members come together to combat food insecurity in Cook County through our partnership with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Since 2008, this annual holiday food drive has provided over 2 million pounds of food to the Chicagoland community. Held each November through December, the drive raised over $37,000 last year—and this year, we’re aiming even higher!Â
The 2025 Holiday Food Drive will begin November 3 and run through December 19. Email communications will be sent to our members as we get closer to the date.Â
Blood Drives
Did you know that a single blood donation can save up to three lives? Now, imagine if every tenant in your building donated. And what if all of BOMA/Chicago's Building Members joined forces to host blood drives? Together, we could save thousands of lives.Â
You have the power to make a difference. Host a blood drive in your building at a time that works best for your team and tenants. Check out our Blood Drive Guide for all the details and connect with any of our three blood drive partners listed below.Â

Lights Outs Chicago
Each spring and fall, approximately five million birds migrate through Chicago. Unfortunately, many are drawn to building lights and glass, leading to fatal collisions. By adopting the Chicago Audubon Society's light reduction practices, we can significantly reduce these fatalities.Â
Here’s how you can help:Â
- Turn off lights: Extinguish decorative and upper-story lights by 11 PM during migration seasons.Â
- Migration periods:Â
- Spring: March 15 to June 15Â
- Fall: August 15 to November 15Â
- Tenant actions: Upper-floor tenants should turn off lights or close blinds after 11 PM.Â
Together, we can help protect millions of migratory birds and ensure their safe passage through Chicago.Â
Illuminate Chicago Lighting Program
BOMA/Chicago supports light requests for Chicago-based civic and philanthropic causes. We oversee these requests on behalf of our members. Interested organizations must submit an application for approval in order to participate. Learn more.Â
