Mayor Lightfoot Issues “Stay at Home” Advisory

Mayor Lightfoot today announced a "Stay At Home" advisory that goes into effect Monday, November 16 at 6 a.m.

The advisory is not a shelter in place order and does not significantly change the regulations that apply to the office industry.

The advisory includes a new restriction that event gatherings be limited to 10 people (instead of the current 25). The new event gathering restriction applies to hotels, places of worship, social events, etc., but does not apply to office. The existing Phase 4 capacity limits for office buildings remain at 40% occupancy and no more than 50 people in a room.

All residents of the City of Chicago are also advised to stay at home in response to the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in the city. Residents are advised to only leave home to go to work or school, or for essential needs such as seeking medical care, going to the grocery store or pharmacy, picking up food, or receiving deliveries.
