Scooter Sharing Ordinance Introduced in City Council

After two years of pilot programs authorizing scooter usage on the public way, an ordinance has been introduced in City Council to authorize them more broadly. BOMA/Chicago is engaged in the matter and our current position is that we are open to the use of scooters downtown under the following circumstances:

1. they are required to be docked in designated stations rather than parked anywhere on the sidewalk, and
2. our members are given ample notice for any proposed docking stations so we can raise siting issues before installation.
