City Council Passes Mechanical Code Interim Amendments 

The City Council recently passed a package of six interim amendments to the Chicago Mechanical Code.

More significant changes are anticipated as the Department of Buildings plans to propose a comprehensive revision to the Mechanical Code in 2022 that will be based on the 2021 International Code.

The updates to the Mechanical Code are part of Phase 3 of the City’s Code Modernization initiative. Due to COVID delays, the City has postponed the stakeholder process and technical working groups for the comprehensive revision to early 2022.
