Non-Essential Business Curfew Effective This Friday

"Curfew" on Non-Essential Businesses from 10 p.m to 6 a.m.

As COVID cases continue to rise significantly each day, Mayor Lightfoot has implemented a limitation on public access to non-essential businesses from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., effective Friday, October 23. The limitation will last at least two weeks.

Members should note the curfew restricts the public from accessing non-essential business spaces. It will not prevent office tenants from accessing their spaces between the hours of 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. nor does it restrict building managers from having their own employees and contractors in the building doing their work.

No Occupancy Reduction at this Time
Non-essential businesses are defined consistent with previous orders. It is important to note the curfew is focused on limiting business hours; there is no occupancy reduction at this time. However, if the City's positivity rate increases to 8 percent and remains there, State rollbacks will kick in that may include capacity limitations.
